Western + – a version of Gunfighter (U.S. Showdown in 2100 A.D.) with enhanced background graphics – was advertised on Jopac console boxes and catalogs, but was not released. Box art and a screenshot – or mockups of them, at least – were shown on the advertisements. However, no prototype version has been found, and it is unknown if the game was actually developed.
In 2015, homebrewers used the ads as a reference to add background graphics to the game and create a Jopac-style manual. And Western + – or the closest approximation possible – was finally released after 30 years. Real, gray Jopac cartridge shells (taken from common games) were even used for it.
Western + has seen two releases. The first occurred Mar. 22, 2015 and consisted of 30 units numbered 1 - 30. The second happened Nov. 24, 2015 and contained 26 units numbered A - Z. Both originally sold for 39 Euro (Videopac plastic cases were available for an extra fee).
