Countdown! is a ROM hack of the very rare French release Des chiffres et des lettres. The game was converted to run in NTSC and on-screen French text was translated to English. Tthe French manual was also translated. A total of 50 cartridges and manuals was produced in Odyssey² style, and released on Feb. 27, 2017. Originally sold for 25 Euros (a plastic Videopac case was available for an extra fee).
Des chiffres et des lettres is a French TV game show, one of the longest-running in the world. It is the inspiration for the British game show Countdown – which explains the title of this cartridge.
Note: the serial number assigned to this game (AC 9450) was also used for the reproduction release Night Fighter.
